Callouts
- Do not use EDTA or oxalate anticoagulants.
- Use fresh Tc-99m pertechnetate eluate; avoid long in-growth.
- Inject as soon as possible; do not exceed 30 minutes after preparation.
- Use largest compatible bore needle to reduce hemolysis risk.
Steps
Collect 1-3 mL of blood using approved anticoagulant guidance. Do not use EDTA or oxalate anticoagulants.
Transfer blood to the reaction vial, dissolve vial contents, and mix gently.
05:00
Add Syringe I, then invert 4-5 times.
Add Syringe II, then invert 4-5 times.
Using shielding, add fresh Tc-99m pertechnetate eluate (10-100 mCi), not exceeding 3 mL.
20:00
Withdraw prepared dose, assay and label per local policy, and inject as soon as possible (within 30 minutes).
If performing efficiency checks, typical labeling is >95%; follow local SOP for QC method and acceptance.
Safety Notice
Always verify calculated doses with institutional protocols and regulatory guidelines before administration.
Quality Assurance
Ensure radiopharmaceutical calibration and dose measurements are performed according to standards.
Documentation
Record all calculations, patient parameters, and administered activities in patient records.
